Chicago's froSkate gets their own Nike SB Dunk High

Ticara Davis May 10, 2022

I remember when froSkate first hit the scene in Chicago and I knew it was something special. I've never seen a group created that made women feel welcomed to freely learn how to skate. Their purpose is to create an inclusive environment for BIPOC and non-traditional communities and I think they are living up to the expectations. With their upcoming Nike SB Dunk High it features an array of colors and materials. I personally love the tongue labels on the sneaker which feature the froSkate logo and their mantra of "All Love, No Hate" on the other. There's no exact release date yet for these but I'll keep you all in the loop.

What I'm Watching This Week: Aleali May 'Get It Together' with Melody Ehsani, Sole Origins 'Air Jordan 1' and more.

Ticara Davis August 29, 2019

Aleali May goes shopping with Melody Ehsani on Slauson Swap Meet and talk about sneakers and her inspiration for her brand. This was dope to see these two link up ahead of what we can expect from her coming from Jordan Brand.

If you know me then I'm about all things Chicago and the Sole Origins 'Complexcon Chicago' discusses Michael Jordan's influence on the city with appearances from Joe Fresh Goods, PJ Tucker, Joe La Puma, Marcus Jordan and more.

Don C, Wale and NBA icon Allen Iverson chat about the history of sneakers in hip-hop. They discuss Kanye's first deal with Nike, Run DMC and their adidas and Allen Iverson discusses his history with Reebok. A good discussion that came about from this roundtable is basketball sneakers being able to transition from court to street and Jordans are the only sneaker that does it seemlessly. I think the Air Fear Of God 1 might be a runner up.
